Naked racism as a political strategy if not life philosophy is nothing new to the GOP, but perhaps progressives need to point out that this is the urgent culture war facing our country, not whether PBS deserves its minuscule amount of government funding, because the collateral damage of a racist party are the children.
As a public service, I suppressed my gag reflex and read every one of the entries from Hellothereracists, a Tumblr composed of racist tweets about President Obama post-election, submitted by those who spotted them on the Internet. From the site: “The (un)official motto of the GOP is ‘personal responsibility’ — so with publicly available information, let the words, names and faces of these racists be documented so that they may be responsible for them.”
Using racist language to call for the president’s assassination is shocking on its own, but even more notable is the large number of children — high school students and recent grads — who appear on this Tumblr. A typical post: “If that coon takes my gun ill turn him into Bin Laden and blow his damn brains out!” This is Colten Chandler, a cherubic-looking student attending Mayville–Portland High School in North Dakota.
What haunts me about Hellothereracists is seeing the pictures of the kids in a more normal context. They look just like kids I knew in school. Most of the ones who called me names or tried to beat me up were actually fundamentally OK kids, loyal friends, good teammates, loved by their families. In retrospect, picking on me often seemed experimental, impulsive, testing boundaries. That’s what adolescence is all about: people wanting to impress their friends, look cool. Moreover, it’s a time of trying on roles, it was clear people wanted to see, well, how racism looked on them. Some, to their credit, rejected it — although it often took doing things like going into the military where they actually had to interact with minorities, and in this context, made the startling discovery that people with brown, black, red and yellow skin are also human beings. Still, better late than never.
Former Reagan-era Justice Department prosecutor Larry Klayman the founder of Judicial Watch and Freedom Watch, writes that America has been “taken over largely by uneducated and lazy morons, goons and thugs who want to dismantle all our Founding Fathers conceived of and fought for.”
The bottom line is this: Americans of faith and those who believe in capitalism and hard work as the means to achieve, not “Atlas Shrugged”-portrayed government handouts, have now seen their country taken over largely by uneducated and lazy morons, goons and thugs who want to dismantle all our Founding Fathers conceived of and fought for. And, their hateful Marxist desire to destroy Western civilization is not limited to the “Great Satan,” the United States, but to its biblical Judeo-Christian roots, embodied in the nation of Israel. With no racial slur intended, but only to employ the same lingo used sarcastically by many of Obama’s supporters to describe their past plight, if we do nothing and simply look to future elections to restore the nation, we will soon become the “new ni**ers,” relegated to the back of the bus – as the bus speeds away to quickly fall over the fiscal, social and moral cliff. African-Americans were right when they said this years ago, and we’re now right to feel the same way today.
In one of the largest racketeering cases brought this year, the U.S. Department of Justice has just unsealed a 43-page indictment of 34 members of a “violent, whites-only prison-based gang with thousands of members operating” in and out of prisons throughout Texas and elsewhere.
The Aryan Brotherhood of Texas (ABT) is accused of carrying out murders, attempted murders, conspiracies, arsons, assaults, robberies and drug trafficking as part of an enterprise that goes back to at least 1993. Among those charged in the indictment are four senior leaders or “generals” — Terry Ross “Big Terry” Blake, 55; Larry Max “Slick” Bryan, 51; William David “Baby Huey” Maynard, 42, and Charles Lee “Jive” Roberts, 68.
Blake and Roberts were among 17 of the defendants arrested last week by a task force of 170 state, federal and local law enforcement officers who conducted sweeps in Texas and North Carolina. Authorities say 14 of the defendants already were in custody and three remain fugitives.
Ten of those charged, including Bryan and Maynard, could face the death penalty if convicted.

“The white establishment is now the minority,” O’Reilly said. “And the voters, many of them, feel that the economic system is stacked against them and they want stuff. You are going to see a tremendous Hispanic vote for President Obama. Overwhelming black vote for President Obama. And women will probably break President Obama’s way. People feel that they are entitled to things and which candidate, between the two, is going to give them things?”
“The demographics are changing,” he said. “It’s not a traditional America anymore.”
A commentor on The Guardian put this perfectly:
This evening on Fox News, long-time anchor Bill O’Reilly, explaining why Obama was doing better in the voting than he anticipated, unleashed one of the most nakedly racist outbursts heard on national television by a prominent commentator. After first claiming that “50 percent of the people… want stuff” and thus vote for Obama because he gives it to them, O’Reilly added:
“Obama wins because it’s not a traditional America anymore. The white establishment is the minority. People want things.”
In other words, now that the majority in America is no longer white, the majority are lazy, dependent and eager for free government handouts. That is the type of commentary one would hear in the swamps of white supremacist websites. Even for Fox News, this is toxic and repellent.
Vandals spray-painted the words “Baby Killer” on the campaign headquarters of Wayne Powell, the Democrat challenging Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.), and wrote “Nigger Lover” on a sign in front of another one of his offices, a Powell spokesman confirmed Saturday to The Huffington Post.
A tipster gave HuffPost a heads up on the incidents, and Powell campaign spokesman Brendan MacArthur confirmed the vandalism at the Midlothian and Henrico offices. MacArthur said the attacks happened Friday night and police departments in both counties have been alerted.
The ad, the rap (which accuses Jackson of advocating “Black genocide”), and the website haven’t gone unnoticed by Jackson. He’s threatening to sue Terry and the TV stations that air the ad. In the letter from his lawyers, according to Terry, Jackson’s attorneys claim:
The Commercial states that Samuel L. Jackson associates himself with persons and organizations who advocate that “Blacks are human weeds” and want “to abort Black babies” and “sterilize Black men and women” and advocate “Black genocide.” All such statements are false, defamatory and outrageous.
The use of Mr. Jackson’s name and image to advocate the highly offensive statements in the Commercial, namely that he supposedly advocates “Black genocide,” and the other such outrageous positions discussed above, has caused Mr. Jackson to suffer substantial emotional distress… Moreover, Randall Terry maintains a website at the domain name www.UncleTomJackson.com where he refers to Mr. Jackson as “Uncle Tom” and expressly states about him: ‘Mr. Jackson is advocating the eradication of his own race.’ Mr. Jackson may seek substantial monetary damages, including punitive damages, for this violation.
Terry seems amused by all of this. He released a statement saying he will “not be bullied or intimidated by Mr. Jackson’s threats, nor will we stop running the ad. Shame on Mr. Jackson for trying to silence political dissent.”
He also points out that Jackson is facing an uphill legal battle. That’s because Terry is a political candidate, and FCC rules basically say he can say anything he wants in a political ad and it will be considered protected free speech. That’s why he’s running for office—so he can put gruesome fetus pictures in ads and stations will have no choice but to run them. In his response to the lawsuit threat, Terry essentially taunts Jackson by pointing this out. He says, “The stations are protected by FCC law from any legal action for ANY political campaign ad that runs on their stations. And I am protected by the first amendment—not to mention the truth.”
Former Governor and Wisconsin Senate candidate Tommy Thompson’s son Jason Thompson says at a brunch “we have an opportunity” to send Obama back to Chicago or Kenya.”

Then they claimed Obama was fomenting racial hate by complaining about the federal government’s response to Katrina – which plenty of white people complained about, too. They took particular issue with his claim that federal Stafford Act funding in Louisiana was less liberal than it had been with New Yorkers after 9/11 and Florida residents after Hurricane Andrew. But it took a quick Google search to find a white Louisiana politician, Sean Reilly of the Louisiana Recovery Authority, making the exact same complaint to PBS’s Frontline.
They absolutely ignore his suggestion that churches and families have to take more of a role in uplifting the black community. One solution to poverty, he told the preachers, is “to take individual responsibility for our families.” He suggests poor people need to “turn off the TV and read a book” to their children, and stop feeding them “Jay’s Potato Chips.” He tells young people to put down their video games and get to work.
I really don’t know how anyone could watch the whole speech and not come away at least a little moved. Carlson must have had interns watch it and pick out the parts that served right-wing prejudices, because all of that God talk, and all the talk about the responsibility of churches, and families, and individuals, sounded almost … Republican. Or “Republican” before we had a black president, and the party’s appeal began to rely so heavily on racism.
